Teresa Wilson

Shortlisted for NEO Artprize 2019

Teresa Wilson is a visual artist best known for her uncanny human sculpture, working with ideas of the uncanny and the abject.  She has evolved a body of work that includes discrete works of doll sculpture and dramatic room-sized immersive installations.

Wilson has had several solo shows including an online solo show with Laura I. Gallery, London in  2021; Bankley Gallery, Manchester; Window Gallery, Salford University; Stockport Memorial Art Gallery;  Arena Gallery, Liverpool and Chapman Gallery, Salford. 

She has featured in many group shows, of which a recent selection are Manchester Open 2022; AIR Gallery, Altrincham; Manchester City Art Gallery; Tate Gallery, Liverpool and Barnaby Festival.  Wilson was shortlisted for the NEO ArtPrize 2019 and has exhibited with the Society of Women Artists (SWA) at the Mall Galleries, London.

Residencies and commissions include a research project residency at the Babyan CultureHouse, Urgup, Turkey and  Manchester Triennial.  Recently, she joined the collaborative ‘Uncanny Stitch’ in an installation for Buxton Fringe Festival 2022.

Teresa Wilson trained at University of Salford (BA Visual Arts) and also has studied at The University of Manchester (BA History of Art).  She is currently studying for an MA in Contemporary Fine Art at the University of Salford.
